2007 lakie Award Winners

Lakewood Theatre was all a-buzz Saturday night, March 8, as they held their annual Lakie Awards Show.  The show opened with an ensemble cast of actors from last season’s productions, belting out a rousing rendition of “The Lakies Tonight”, sung to the tune of “Comedy Tonight” from A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum.  Lakewood hit the emcee jackpot having Mark J Thomas step in as the host for the evening.  He kept the audience on their toes and laughing as he led the festivities, the music, and even threw in a few comical jabs at the nominees.  Audience members never knew what to expect as their host transformed from a witty, charismatic Thomas, into Arliss Struvy, radio announcer extraordinaire from Greater Tuna, or Vera Carp, that meddlesome, gossip-maven, also from Tuna.  Audience members were entertained with music and songs by the multi-talented Drue Shook, and the incomparable Nancy Copeland, as well as musical numbers by the amazingly talented group of children and youth actors from Lakewood Theatre under the direction of Thomas.  Thanks to all who came out to celebrate one of the most entertaining and appealing season’s we’ve had at Lakewood Theatre!               ~Vickie Bailey
